DR. ANITA MARCHESANI earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the George Washington University. She completed pre and post doctoral training at the University of Maryland Medical System, specializing in health psychology and behavioral change. She has also done adjunct teaching at Hood College in Frederick, MD and York College of Pennsylvania.
Over the years she has been practicing, she has slowly transformed her work from that of a therapist and lecturer to that of a coach. She furthered her training with the College of Executive coaching, the Art and Science of Executive Coaching with the Coach Training Institute, the Institute for Life Coach Training, and the Authentic Happiness program with Martin Seligman, Ph.D.
As a coach, Dr. Anita brings to her work an extensive background in understanding motivation, barriers to change, innovative problem solving, and the importance of maximal performance.
Anita typically utilizes scientifically validated assessment instruments to assist the evaluation and action planning phase of the coaching relationship. Her coaching framework is then guided primarily by research-driven paradigms such as emotional intelligence and positive psychology.
Both individuals and organizations benefit from Dr. Anita's emphasis on leadership. Specifically, she helps clients develop or refine the scientifically proven qualities of effective leaders. This has obvious positive impact within corporations, but it also has an enormous positive impact in the non-corporate world. In learning leadership skills, Anita's clients find they lead their lives in more meaningful and effective ways. Their households run more smoothly, and they participate more significantly in community groups such as PTA's, neighborhood associations, networking groups, and countless other organizations.
Anita is also active in assisting women entrepreneurs who want to run home-based businesses. She serves on the board of directors of Moms, Inc. of Howard County, a non-profit group supporting the unique needs of stay at home moms who run home-based businesses. Anita has also started a Moms, Inc. chapter in York, PA. As a work at home mother, she is a strong advocate for women who want to build businesses, yet be more present in the lives of their children as they grow.
